BrewHardware May Newsletter and Product Update
The Holiday rush blew us away this year and we just kept up. Thanks for all the support and Happy New Year. Our stock is finally recovering and we've even managed to add a bunch of new products. So much time, so little to talk about. Strike that. Reverse it.
We originally eased in to offering ball valves and weldless bulkheads a couple months ago but our latest shipment has us well stocked and committed. We're carrying both 2 and 3-piece stainless ball valves depending on your preference and you can also get one of several weldless bulkhead options to go with it.
Weldless 2-Pc SS Ball Valve
Model: WL2PBV - $25 (varies with options)
You've been asking for weldless valves for a long time to make this more of a one stop shop. Here they are. This kit uses all stainless and silicone parts for long life and heat tolerance. Drill a hole in your pot, install the kit, and stop trying to lift all that weight to pour into the fermenter.
This kit will work in metal vessels as well as cylindrical coolers that have thin walls at the drain location such as the Igloo 10 Gallon beverage dispenser. Maximum wall thickness is 3/16".

Weldless 3-Pc SS Ball Valve
Model: WL3PBV - $31
You've been asking for weldless valves for a long time to make this more of a one stop shop. Here they are. This kit uses all stainless and silicone parts for long life and heat tolerance. Drill a hole in your pot, install the kit, and stop trying to lift all that weight to pour into the fermenter. This kit uses a premium 3-piece valve that can be taken apart while one half of the body remains installed.
This kit will work in metal vessels as well as cylindrical coolers that have thin walls at the drain location such as the Igloo 10 Gallon beverage dispenser. Maximum wall thickness is 3/16".

Have benders, will...bend? You wanted diptubes to go with the valves so you got it! We have 5/8" and 1/2" OD stainless tubing (and copper) ready to bend, mostly for diptubes for sucking up that last bit of water or wort in your vessels (especially those dished converted kegs).
Threaded Copper Dip Tubes
Model: Diptube - $9 +
This variety of diptubes offered here will complete the install of any drain bulkead for any vessel. They are not as shiny as the stainless version we sell, but they are for the budget conscious. Diptubes in general are most important in converted keg based vessels to remove the last 2 gallons or so that sit below the drain port. In a hot liquor tank, you want to be able to drain it nearly completely. If you use hop socks in your boil kettle, you can also use a diptube all the way to the bottom of the kettle.

Is wort boiling in your sightglass? Afraid of melting the tubing? Ball Valve handles too hot to touch? The new BrewHardware stainless clip-on heat shields will take care of that. These are labor intensive to make and they're popular enough already that it's hard to keep them in stock but we're trying. Here's a video showing the original prototypes that are now in production.
Heat Shield
Model: Shield $10 any style
While not all burner setups absolutely require a heat shield for sight glass kits or ball valves, they certainly can't hurt. If you've noticed the vinyl wraps on your ball valves bubbling or burning off, it's an indication that heat shielding any kettle accessories would be a good idea for their longevity. Testing has shown that this simple snap on shield can reduce the fitting temp by 100F.
These are now spot welded together so we're streamlining the price at 10 bucks for any version you need.

We've also added Camlock quick disconnects to the site. Bobby reviewed these on his youtube channel just as homebrewers were catching on to these otherwise industrial connectors and they've really soared in popularity since. They're hard to keep in stock and just about everyone is sold out on at least a few pieces from time to time. We're waiting for our delivery of Type F, but everything else is in stock now.
Camlock Disconnects

Model: Camlocks - ($$ varies)
Camlock style disconnects are absolutely the best compromise cost and function for making and breaking connections between your vessels, chillers, pumps and hose sets. Eventually you get tired of pushing tubing onto hose barbs and adusting worm gear clamps. These are cheaper than triclovers and all other stainless steel quick disconnect designs. They connect/disconnect faster than triclovers too!

The last new product we wanted to mention is our mash recirculation/sparge tube. You may have seen some crafty DIY homebrewers building something similar out of "loc-line" parts in the past but it never seemed to catch on to the mainstream. Now that so many homebrewers are building hardcore recirculated mash systems, we thought it was time to push this practical and reasonably priced system in kit form. More:
Mash Recirculation Return Tube
Model: MashTube - $18.99 +
We spent way too long trying to come up with a clever name for this thing. Mash Tube, Any Height Recirulation Port, Sparge Height Thingy. A lot of people use a piece of hose or copper tubing on the inside of their mash tun recirculation (or sparge) port but it's not as cool as this. This assembly is made from parts from "Loc-Line". You can adjust the output from the same height as the port all the way down to 12" below the port to adjust for five or ten gallon batches of varying grain bills. It's a exponentially easier to use than laying a hose on top of the grain.

Aside from the newer products we listed above, we're still shipping the best retrofit sightglass kits available on the market every single day. Don't forget about our Refactometers, Thermometers, Scales, Vinyl Decals, and Assortment of Stainless Fittings.
