Heat Shield Large sideways clip for Ball Valves January 6, 2015 Reviewer: John Rankin from Inver Grove Heights, MN United States   This shield is very handy. I thought about making something or using foil, but this is more elegant and saves me time. It fits well on a 2 piece ball valve. Kept my handle from getting melted off any further. I noticed that the shield gets stained pretty quickly. I was able to scrub most of it off with Bar Keeper's Friend, but not all after  a short 1-2 minute scrubbing. Was this review helpful to you?

worked better than expected December 7, 2014 Reviewer: Ryan Valencia from San Diego, CA United States   I just upgraded my entire brew set-up, and after reading a few threads about using outdoor burners, it was determined that a heat shield would be a good idea. I did a water run to calibrate the new kettle and the heat shield worked remarkably well. I had no idea how much radiant heat spilled over the sides of the kettle, despite the edge of the kettle protruding inches past the burner, and the heat shield absorbed so much of it. Had i not purchased it, the ball valve would have not only been far too hot to touch, it would have surely melted the handle coating and likely damaged the O rings on the kettle. I can not recommend this product enough. Money well spent! Was this review helpful to you?

Heat Shield install / alignment December 5, 2014 Reviewer: Jon from TX   Heat shield looks like it should work well. The clip is off-centered which seems a little odd to me, but BH hasn't led me astray yet with their custom products, so I'll try it before I judge. To install it, I had to remove the bottom two screws in the 3 piece valve, install the clip on the valve body and reinstall the screws. Not difficult, but it does not just snap right on.
