Deliver mash recirculation wort and sparge water precisely to the top of any grain bed height with this kit. This assembly is made from "Loc-Line" which is a the trade name for this positionable plastic tubing used wherever flow needs to be directed and stay put. You can adjust the output from the same height as the port all the way down to 12" below the port to adjust for five or ten gallon batches of varying grain bills. We spent way too long trying to come up with a clever name for this
thing. Mash Tube, Any Height Recirulation Port, Sparge Height Thingy. A
lot of people use a piece of hose or copper tubing on the inside of
their mash tun recirculation (or sparge) port but it's not as cool as
this.
You have a choice in how you'd like to mount the kit and what vessel it is going into. All options include a number of 1/2" ID straight interlocking locline segments and one locline to 1/2" NPT thread adapter. Read the options below for other differences:
- Plastic Only - You can buy just the loc-line assembly including the 1/2" male connector and 16 flexible segments and thread it into your own bulkhead. It provides a maximum vertical drop of about 12" with the last two links bent to horizontal. (shown on the left of the picture). Note, we do not include the 90 degree plastic fitting anymore but we added two additional straight links and lowered the price as the straight links can be bent pretty sharply anyway.
- Weldless Kit with Cam A. After drilling a 7/8" hole in the top sidewall of your metal mashtun or through the lid, use the SS washer and silicone flat on the inside. Add teflon tape to the threads and thread on the Camlock Type A Fitting. Of course this only works if you're subscribed to the use of Cam Locks for your disconnect system.(THIS option is shown in the middle of the picture). It provides a maximum vertical drop of about 12" with the last two links bent to horizontal.
- Weldless Kit with BLQD-A After drilling a 7/8" hole in the top sidewall of your metal mashtun or through the lid, use the SS washer and silicone flat on the inside . Add teflon tape to the threads and thread on the BLQD Type A Fitting. Of course this only works if you're subscribed to the use of BLQD style Quick Disconnects for your disconnect system.(THIS option is not shown in any of the pictures)
- Weldless Kit for Thick Cooler Lids - This kit deletes the lockline elbow so that the straight connector is inline with the tube. It comes with a metal washer, silicone gasket and 1/2" NPT coupling. Drill a 7/8" hole in the underside of the lid and a 1-1/8" hole in the topside of the lid for the coupling to fit into. You can then put either a hose barb or camlock type F (either sold separately) into the top of the coupling. This kit will work with lids that are up up to about 1.5" thick, e.g. 10 gallon round Igloo. It will also work with Rubbermaid/Gott cooler lids, but you can acheive a lower profile with the regular weldless kit if you make the hole at a location where the top and bottom plastic gets close together. This kit is shown on the far right of the picture. This kit comes standard with 16 straight links for a height drop of about 13" when the bottom is curved to horizontal.
Additional Options: We've put together three common assemblies that will work for most mash tun vessels for both mash recirculation and sparging. We do offer an additional "sparge ring" assembly that can be snapped on to the bottom of one of the above vertical drop assemblies for those brewers who feel better about sprinkling the sparge water in a more spread pattern. See accessories. Lastly, if you want to build something with these locline parts in some configuration we have not conceived, we are also offering locline components ala carte as well as the handy tool that makes snapping the pieces together a lot easier.
Note: The plain locline segment WILL snap directly over the hose barb you find on the Blichmann AutoSparge unit. Locline is a superior way to deliver recirculated wort and sparge water onto the top of the grainbed.
