Description

Omega Yeast Labs is proud to offer home brew pitches of select strains containing about 150 billion viable yeast cells at packaging. British Ale VIII
OYL-016
A classic ESB strain best suited for English style ales including milds, bitters, porters, and English style stouts. Ales produced with this strain tend to be fruity, increasingly so with higher fermentation temperatures of 70-74F. A thorough diacetyl rest is recommended after fermentation is complete. This yeast will leave a beer very clear, and will leave some residual sweetness.

We do our best to insulate liquid yeast packs in a bubble wrap envelope but you'll have a much better chance of viability if you select an ice pack in the accessory list. Generally a single ice pack is enough for up to three packs of yeast.

3 of 5 Not very good May 21, 2016
Reviewer: Jason Floor from Scottsdale, AZ United States
I was not very impressed with this strain, I have used WLP-002 with much better success and it is also fresher normally. This yeast from Omega was 3 months old when I recieved it and was able to use it, and I did not use a starter, but I should have in retrospect. It took 96 hours to take off, and then resulted in an incomplete fermentation. This was likely due to the packaging date. I will be using WL in the future though as they are generally fresher.
