These larger buckets make great primary fermenters because they leave enough headspace so that blowoff tubes are not important. They also work great for wine when you ferment on skins and/or if you want to agressively degass your wine.

Perfect for primary fermentations	Thursday, August 22, 2024

I've had it with glass carboys, such a pain to clean, and one fell and broke in my basement...wish I would've found this before buying the carboys. This is large enough for primary fermentation, yet isn't big enough to be noticeably too large. I'd recommend it over the 6.5 gallon bucket. Seals well, and the drilled and grommeted top seals an airlock very well.
