These Stainless Steel fittings are a hybrid between a traditional NPT fitting and a quick disconnect. The female NPT side is cut a little loose so it will fully thread on to any 1/2" male NPT or NPS fitting to allow the included captured silicone O-ring to seat and seal.

This particular fitting has a straight 1/2" hose barb on the other end which will accommodate 1/2" ID stiff hoses or even 3/8" ID as long as they are stretchy like our 3/8" ID silicone tubing.

Long story short, this is functionally the same as a 1/2 NPT female x 1/2" hose barb but instead of using teflon tape and needing to be tightened on with a wrench, this uses a gasket and can seal well hand tight. It is also more sanitary as your liquid will never touch the threads.

NOTE: This fitting looks A LOT like a tailpiece and beer nut setup that would normally thread on to Sanke keg couplers and faucet shanks (in fact the tailpiece is the same) but the nut is NOT beer thread.
