This German Hefeweizen recipe is a very approachable fair weather beer clocking in just under 5% ABV (or more depending on your efficiency). This beer is pale and hazy with a slight banana and clove flavor due to the yeast.

10 pounds of grain, split between Pilsner and Pale Wheat and a small dose of Hallertau hops make this an easy beer to brew for a great value. Select your desired yeast from the accessory list to your right. The Omega liquid, Lallemand Munich or Safale W-68dry yeast are directly pitchable single packs (for 5-6 gallons) while we recommend double dosing if you choose the White Labs option (or make a 1 liter starter to boost cell count). Ferment in the low 60's for a clean palette and good balance of banana and clove flavors.

A basic recipe sheet is included with the kit showing the actual grain bill and hop additions. Since everyone brews all grain a little differently (BIAB, batch sparge, fly sparge etc) it is difficult to provide exact water amounts and temperatures. If you need help prior to brewing, give us a call.

For emphasis: This kit does not include yeast or priming sugar, it must be selected from the accessories list on the right if you need them.

If you're brewing BIAB/No sparge, if you reduce the batch size to end the boil with about 5.5 gallons (instead of 6), your OG should still track about right.

Note that if you're using RO or distilled water, you will want to use a couple grams each of gypsum and calcium chloride as well as about 2ml of Lactic Acid in the mash for ideal pH.
