Description
There are a lot of different kegerator line cleaning kits out there and they all suck. Boom roasted.
Seriously. Most of them are small containers with a big hand pump or glorified squeeze bottles and they require that you remove either the faucet or the keg coupler. Worst of all, they are overpriced.
Our keg cleaning kit has the benefit of cleaning the coupler, the lines, and the faucet all in one step. The system features:
Large 1-gallon tank with a long throw pressure hand pump.
4 ounce bottle of Beer Line Cleaner (BLC) concentrate (makes 2 gallons of diluted cleaner)
3/4" Diameter nylon cleaning brush for cleaning the coupler shaft and faucet spout.
Jumper cap for the bottom of the coupler (the KEY DIFFERENCE in our cleaning process).
THIS KIT WORKS FOR SANKE D (American Brands) and S couplers (Some European Brands) but not for Type A, G, or U couplers.
THIS VERSION of our cleaning kit requires that you remove the gas hose from the keg coupler. It provides distinct benefits in doing so, but if you would rather not have to remove any hoses at all, we do offer a deluxe kit that bypasses this requirement.
How it's used.
Untap the keg and remove the coupler from the keg.
Shut off your CO2 supply and remove the gas line from your keg.
Thread the connector from the cleaning tank hose on to the gas port of the coupler. The connection should have a rubber gasket in place.
Twist the black plastic jumper cap on to the bottom of the coupler.
Mix a half ounce of BLC concentrate with 1 quart of hot tap water in the pressure tank and screw on the lid.
With the keg coupler lever in the up "untapped" position, pump the tank up about 20 times to build pressure. Then put the lever down into the locked "tapped" position.
Place a bucket under the faucet, open the faucet, and until approximately 8 ounces of liquid pours into the bucket. This will first be old beer and then some of the cleaner.
Close the faucet and allow the cleaner to soak in the line for 15-30 minutes depending on how soiled the line is.
Open the faucet again until the remaining cleaner flushes through. You want to keep the flow pretty fast so pump it to build additional pressure if necessary.
Use the brush to clean out the faucet spout and after temporarily removing the jumper cap off the coupler, brush out the center tube a bit. Replace the jumper.
Rinse and fill the tank to the one gallon mark with hot tap water and pump all of it through the line to rinse the cleaner out.
Untap the coupler. Remove the cleaning hose from the gas port of the coupler and replace it with your CO2 gas line. Be sure there is some kind of rubber gasket at that connection. Sometimes instead of a rubber gasket, there is a rubber "duck bill" assembly inserted as a one way valve and it sticks out far enough to act as a gasket. Do not over tighten the nut. If you are not going to tap a keg immediately, you can use CO2 to push the water out of the line by leaving the jumper cap installed, locking the lever into the tapped position and opening the faucet. CO2 will push all the water out and into your bucket. Then untap the coupler and remove the jumper cap.
To be extremely clear, this kit does NOT include the SANKE type D coupler shown as faded out in the picture.
