There are a few custom applications for which this fitting adapter would be used but the bottom line is that when you want to connect a CO2 gas QD to something with NPT threads on it, this is the missing link. The top threads on this fitting are 19/32" - 18 threads and fit ball lock keg posts with the same thread.

You may not have thought of a slick use for this fitting, but we like to put this fitting and the matching ball lock gas post into the input port of our CO2 distributor in the kegerator. That way we can put a single ball lock quick disconnect on our main gas line for quick coupling to the manifold. The benefit is that we can pop the QD off the manifold for accessory use like carbonator caps or even taking the tank with us for temporary serving of a single keg.

It should work on retrofit keg fine coupled with 1/2 to 1/4 NPT reducers.
