The reason you would feed your panel with four wires is so you an derive 240v for elements and 120v for pumps and other accessories.

Note that we source these plugs from several vendors to keep the price as low as possible so the one you receive may not be exactly as pictured.

If this is to be used with actual 50 amp loads, the cable requirement is 6/4 SJ or SOW type cord.
