I have been using a 3/8 inch racking cane for 30 years. I don’t know why I waited this long to move up to a 1/2 cane. Obviously you will reduce your transfer time by 1/3 with is big pipe. Stainless steel is the only way to go with a racking cane too. Unbreakable is the biggest plus. If you are worried about suck starting a siphon, don’t. Just don’t stick the hose all the way into you mouth and you don’t have to worry about contamination.
