Description

This recipe is a very approachable balanced beer with a moderate malt backbone to support a firm bitterness and full hop flavor. While not a clone recipe, expect this one to land in the realm of DFH 60 minute, Bell's 2 Hearted, or Lagunitas IPA.

Expect an ABV of about 6.5%, light copper and clear in the glass. This is NOT a modern hazy style IPA.

DRY HOP? Note that the base kit/recipe does not include any dry hops (hops that are added directly into the fermenter for a last minute boost in hop aroma) though they are pretty typical for the style of beer. We leave these out to make the recipe more appropriate for beginners and/or folks that are more prone to damaging their beer via oxidation in the fermenter. If you want to add some dry hops to this kit, purchase an ounce of any of the hops you find on the right hand side in the accessory list. These get snuck into the fermenter at the very end of fermentation, about a week before bottling/kegging.

Requires a 16 quart boil kettle minimum.

Included with the kit, malt extracts, steeping grains (if applicable), steeping bag, hops, yeast, priming sugar, 50 bottle caps. Not included: Bottles, 6 gallons of RO or Distilled water.

Makes 5 gallons of finished, packaged beer. Approximately 1.062 OG, 46 IBUs.

Like all of our custom designed recipe kits, the ingredients are taken directly out of our high turnover stock at the time of ordering. That way, nothing sits in a box on the shelf. A brew-day checklist and basic instructions are included.
