Description

Audience:
This seminar/Workshop is designed for individuals who have some experience brewing with malt extracts or kits (sometimes steeping some grains) as the primary way of creating wort but are interested in learning about the all grain brewing process. Due to the specific focus on how all grain differs from extract brewing, we will be skipping a lot of basics such as bottling and racking processes. It is possible to start brewing with grain immediately upon entering the hobby, but you really should attend the beginner seminar first.

Purpose:
To give participants a thorough understanding of the all grain brewing process (brewing without having to use malt extract syrups or powders). After the class, students should feel comfortable embarking on their first all grain batch immediately or in the future.

Content:
This is a demo/workshop style class with an ongoing Q&A dialog. A batch of beer will be brewed for exhibition purposes and replicates a typical all grain brew day. The formal class will end at the point where the wort is being boiled because that process remains the same as extract brewing. Any differences will be noted. We will demonstrate the BIAB or Brew In a Bag process but other methods will be explained and contrasted. If a specific class group specifically has interest in using a cooler mash tun or other multi-vessel process instead, that can be accommodated.

Questions answered:
  • How does all grain brewing vary from extract brewing?
  • How do we turn grain into wort if we don't use extract?
  • What are the benefits of using 100% grain?
  • How long does it take?
  • What kind of equipment do you need?
  • How much does it cost (upfront, ongoing)?
  • What is the basic process and timeline from brewing to drinking?
In summary, participants will better understand how all grain brewing works and be able to determine if it's something they would like to progress into in pursuit of brewing nirvana.

Instructor:
The class is delivered by a brewer that has been using these techniques for nearly two decades. Both the instructor and dozens of class participants have earned awards for their beer at the highest level sanctioned brewing competitions.

BONUS! Participants of this class will receive 10% off their first all grain recipe kit as long as the purchase is made on the day of the class or within one week.

Schedule:
We plan to have run this particular class approximately every 6-weeks. The available dates, if already scheduled will be listed as a drop down option above the "add to cart" button. If there are no sessions scheduled, no dates will be listed in the dropdown. To be emailed a notification when we set new dates, click the link that says "email me when this is back in stock".

Runtime:
The class is planned for up 3 hours of presentation with plenty of time for Q&A. The first 1.5-2 hours will focus on all grain brewing specifics. Participants are welcome to leave once the boil starts but can hang around to ask questions.

Policy:
The person making the purchase is assumed to be the attendee. If you are purchasing a reservation for someone else, or a quantity greater than one, please type in the attendee names in the comment box during checkout. You may cancel your reservation via email or phone up to 24 hours prior to the session and store credit will be issued. You may use that store credit for merchandise or a reservation for a different session in the future. Brewhardware LLC reserves the right to cancel any session for any reason, providing notification to reserved attendees via email or phone at least 24 hours in advance. If we cancel, the reservation fee is refunded.
