Guided Beer Tasting Class - At Your Venue

Description
Audience:
This class is perfect for adults (21+ years old) that enjoy beer and being adventurous with different styles but have never really wrapped their head around what the styles actually are or how they differ.
Purpose:
Get a real appreciation for the differences in beer styles across the world. It may be hard to believe, but there are 33 main recognized categories of beer styles and many of those are broken into several sub-styles for a total of nearly 100 unique combinations. Most casual beer drinkers, or even those who fancy themselves cultured in the craft beer world, are often locked into a habit of buying the same brands or visiting the same local breweries. Break the mold and broaden your horizons with a beer expert.
Instructor:
The class is delivered by an award winning beer brewer and certified beer judge (sanctioned by the Beer Judge Certification Program). The BJCP organization certifies judges by rigorously testing one's ability to differentiate, describe, and evaluate beer across 100 unique styles.
Content:
The instructor will spend some time establishing a basis for how to taste beer critically, how a brewer effectively makes beer that varies so widely in character, and will pass around some brewing ingredients for a show and tell (sniff and taste in some cases) prior to pouring beer. To be ethically responsible and avoid over consumption, the target is to taste and evaluate no more than 8 different beers with a 2-3 ounce pour per beer (once the class is over, you can do what you please with the extra beer).
This class/event must be delivered at the participant venue of choice, whether a home, fraternal organization clubhouse, or any other place that permits consumption of outside alcohol. The instructor cannot legally provide the beer. One of the participants will need to purchase the beer. The instructor will provide a list of easily found commercial examples of beer that spans a wide gamut of styles. The cost of this class/session does not include the cost of the beer. Assume a beer cost of approximately $80-100.
Schedule:
TBD/ By appointment only.
Runtime:
The class is planned for up 3 hours of presentation including plenty of time for Q&A. Discussion per beer style is usually 10-15 minutes each
Policy:
The session must be booked at least one week ahead of time. We allow up to one reschedule as long as we are notified within 24 hours of the start of the class. If a class is cancelled by the customer, we offer either a reschedule or a 75% refund. If a reschedule is canceled (the second time) the refund goes down to 50%. If the instructor cancels, a full refund is provided or 25% discount on a reschedule.
As always, we are willing to organize and schedule any kind of class for groups of four or more people by request so if you don't see something on the schedule, give us a call 908-823-4227
