Description

These elements are pretty slick. The traditional way to get an element into a TC port is to use an adapter such as our Hot Pod ETC which then had to be hardwired to a cord. These Ripple TC elements don't have screw in bases but are welded right to a 1.5" TC flange. Not only that, but the electrical connection is made by integrated NEMA L6-30P blades. You can twist an L6-30R cord end right on. This gives you the ability to disconnect at the pot rather than drag the cord around.

You will need a 1.5" TC port on your kettle and we offer several different ways to get that done; weld ferrule, solder ferrule, and weldless. These are available separately. The L6 cable is also available as a separate item. Again, this element does not include a gasket, clamp or TC port for your kettle. They are available separately.

Element length is approximately 14" Long to the TC flange. Watt density works out at just around 75 Watts per Square Inch. We are often asked about LWD vs ULWD and we're yet to find any technical documentation that defines exactly what this means and what technical governing body decided what the WPI has to be for specific names. What we can tell you is that these elements do not scorch wort. It's the lowest watt density you can get for a 5500 watt element that also fits into kettles as small as 13" with a large TC ferrule welded in.

Everything is 304 High polish stainless steel.

It is extremely important that you consult with an electrical professional for advice or wiring help. Under no circumstances should these be used without proper wiring, ground fault circuit protection, over current circuit protection. We are not licensed electricians so we cannot provide wiring advice.

Note that you should take extra care to ensure good electrical conductivity between the element prongs and the female cord end. Since these are used in often moist environments are are stored in garages and basements, some light oxidation may build up on the prongs over time and it can be hard to see. We recommend occasionally scuffing up the prongs with some 100 grit sandpaper, emory cloth, emory board, etc and wiping the dust off with alcohol about every 4-6 months. Failure to do this may result in an overheat situation at the electrical connection which may cause the cord end to melt in worst case scenarios. This failure is not very common, but like dry firing damage, it is not covered under the 1 year warranty.

5 of 5 Slick design, does the job May 9, 2020
Reviewer: Jason from APEX, NC United States
Just finished my first brew with this element in my converted sanke keg, with welded 1.5" TC bulkhead, and am happy with it's performance.  Took my 34l 40degC water to 70degC strike temp in about 10min, then took my wort up to a boil in 17min.  I prefer the minimalist element-plug interface compared to the hot pod enclosure that has served me well over the years.

5 of 5 Perfect July 23, 2019
Reviewer: An electrician from Portsmouth, NH United States
I bought this in December, zero problems. I like this setup because it’s easy to switch between kettles. I use it for 5 or 10 gallon batches. Going to buy a second one just in case because I’m never going back to propane.

1 of 5 Constantly Burns up... June 25, 2019
Reviewer: Mathew Townsend from Frederick, MD United States
From my understanding, a professional electrician has examined to be due to the loose connections on these elements. They do not provide adequate conductivity to safely work. I've wasted my money on several elements, and plugs because they continually burn up...
