Silicone tubing is a little pricy compared to the clear PVC tubing you'll find at the home centers, but it's worth it when you contrast their features. At hot temperatures, clear PVC tubing will leech plasticizers into the liquid and make your brew taste like plastic. PVC also softens up quite a bit with heat. Our silicone tubing is extruded in the U.S. using 100% Dow base silicone and is FDA approved for food contact up to 500F. it also happens to be some of the clearest silicone tubing you'll find so you'll still be able to see your wort flowing. NOTE: keep in mind that CLEAR is relative. This isn't as clear as glass. We are using the term "clear" in regards to the spectrum of clarity found in silicone tubing which is by nature semi-opaque. You can read newsprint through our 1/2" ID tubing and perhaps not quite through the 3/4" ID stuff because of the added distance between wall layers. Either way, this tubing is the clearest silicone tubing we have come across and it's priced very competitively for ANY clarity.

This is the 3/4" ID x 1" OD (that's 1/8" wall thickness) tubing that we recommend for use with pumps or any general plumbing around your brewery. We also stock smaller 1/2" and 3/8" ID tubing if you need that. Most of the fittings we stock are too small for use with this MONSTER sized tubing but we've had enough requests for it to bring some limited quantities in.

Note: If you roll the end of this tubing over itself by about an inch, it will fit nice and snug into the mouth of a typical glass carboy. It would make a nice blowoff tube that stays flexible and can be boil-sanitized.

If you're price shopping, be sure to look out for wall thickness and hazy imported tubing. We stand behind our product because we literally pick up our product at the extruder and know where the raw materials come from.

Warning: Do NOT leave silicone tubing soaking in Star San sanitizer for more than a few hours at a time. Long term soaking, such as several days to a week, can cause silicone to get brittle.

Bought this to use with ¾" opening 1.5" T-Clamps on my brew kettle.  The walls of the hose crush together no matter how I adjust the flow into my pump. A heavier walled hose would work better for my application.
