The 1-1/2" Triclover (TC) Long Weld Ferrule is typically welded into a sidewall of a vessel where you need a port. If you're building a brewery based on the sanitary/triclover method of device attachment, you'll have these all over the place. The tube OD is 1.5", the flange measures 2", and the overall length is 1.125". The length of this ferrule makes it possible to use ripple style heating elements. These are extremely high quality machined pieces in 304SS. Note that we also stock this item in "medium" length at 7/8" depth but the extra 1/4" length of the LONG will give you a little more clearance for the TC clamp wingnut and in some cases give you just the extra length needed to get heating elements into smaller pots.
Despite the rampant misinformation circulating around the forums, a ripple style heating element, or at least the ones we sell here, will pass through this ferrule easily. You do NOT need 2" TC.
