We have sold this collection of parts in our store for years and never put together a definitive "kit" until now. One gallon of mead is a sweet spot where it's worth the time and effort but also isn't too expensive of a batch where you'll be scared to experiment.

Fermentation is kicked off in a 2 gallon bucket so you have room to deal with fermentation foam without making a mess. It's also easy to get in there to work on the mead, degass, add nutrient, etc without needing a funnel.

When fermentation is over, You'll siphon the mead over to the more stable, oxygen-resistant glass jug.

This kit doesn't cut any corners. You get a hydrometer and test tube for checking sugar content and ultimately determining the alcohol level of your finished mead.

You get a big 8oz bottle of industry standard sanitizing concentrate (Star San) that will last you for at least 25 batches of mead.

Our intent is to have an easy to purchase equipment kit that will last you many batches whether you buy our mead making ingredient kits or go off on your own to find recipes.

This equipment will allow you to be aging one mead (in the glass jug) while you actively ferment your next batch in the bucket. You'll want to space the batches out by about one month but there is some overlap.

NOTE: In an effort to keep this starter kit affordable, we have withheld some of the "nice to have" items. The recipe kit instructions will include both additions by weight (accurate) and by volume (1/8tsp, pinch, etc but less accurate). As you dabble more in small batch fermentations of mead, cider, wine, etc.... you'll increasingly see value in having a scale that is accurate in grams or even less than grams. You will find our favorite scale in the accessories list below. Pick it up if it's in your budget. If your kitchen scale is accurate down to at least 1 gram, that's probably close enough.
