5 of 5 Simple and effective November 26, 2023

I wish I could post a picture of the fine result this handy widget achieves.  Together with whirlpooling, it really helps keep trub away from the kettle outlet.

4 of 5 Substantial help keeping trub in kettle April 17, 2023
Reviewer: Steve Sibelman from Beaverton, OR United States
No trub guard can be 100% effective, but this one clips nicely to the "shorty" pickup tube in my Spike kettle and retains considerable trub that would otherwise go into the fermenter.  Easy to use, and reasonably priced.

3 of 5 Useful August 10, 2021
Reviewer: Odin Anderson from Bellevue, WA United States
I have an inverted keggle, so I knew I'd have to grind the bottom edge to a curve. That was no problem.

It was a good component to start with but the little tack weld on the clip is a bit sketchy. I would have liked something with a much more adjustable clip.  And since there was no picture of the clip, I didn't know before I purchased it.

Maybe an adjustable screw to change the distance between the pickup tune and the guard.

5 of 5 Not sure the clip would work, but it does. September 27, 2019
Reviewer: Dave from Bend, OR United States
Wasn't sure how the clip would work specificaly on my Spike kettle with the 5/8" side pickup tube.  There's no photo of the clip side to show exactly how the clip works. Well, the clip fits nicely on my pickup tube. Snaps right on. After whirlpooling (I hand stir) the guard works as designed to allow you to get (almost) the last sips of wort as the turb mound starts its collapse and spread.

I used this on a standard elbow.. It tilted up slightly and did not function well..  Wish you made the proper elbow this is designed for with  Male threads.

Does the job but would like to see it come with a silicone boot on the bottom.

5 of 5 This really works July 29, 2016
Reviewer: Gregg Pessin from Kirkwood, MO United States
I had some doubts about the trub guard but it did the job. I whirlpooled the wort and then transferred to my fermenter. All the trub was further in than the guard.  Afterwards it was easy to clean. Finally solved my trub issue.

5 of 5 This trub guard actually worked June 1, 2016
Reviewer: Black Dog Brewery from New York
I did my first transfer from the BK to the fermenter last weekend using this trub guard.

It clips on perfectly to the 1/2" NPT stainless elbow.

The guard left much more hot break / cold break material in the BK without getting sucked into the fermenter.

seems like the best solution that will keep the trub out of my fermentation vessels.
