The Hop Bong is a versatile pressurizable tri-clamp accessory, capable of dry hopping oxygen purged hops into fermenters. This particular sized tri-clamp Hop Bong was designed for fermenters with a 2" T.C. lid port (actual flange diameter of 2.5"). Note that this can also be used if you have a 1.5" TC port in the lid (2" actual diameter). You'll have to use a bell reducer that goes from 1.5" TC to 2" TC, then attach a 2" Butterfly valve first. The advantage of using this larger 2" TC version of the hop bong is that it will hold more hops than the 1.5" version and hop pellets are much less likely to get stuck bridges across the butterfly valve than it is on the 1.5" butterfly valves. The bell reducer below this 2" valve is usually not a problem at all.
The side port features PCO1881 male threads ( just like 1 and 2 liter soda bottles). We include a ball lock gas fitting that threads on to this side port which will allow you to purge your hops before dropping by flushing them with CO2. We also include the 2" TC x PCO1881 reducer cap for the top of the bong and a matching TC clamp and gasket.
Constructed from Nylon 12: An autoclavable, extremely robust, and chemical resistant engineering plastic.

Usage. Generally you'll have a 2" butterfly valve on your fermenter lid port (or a 1.5 to 2" bell reducer THEN a 2" butterfly valve, then you'll clamp the hop bong on top of that. Fill the hop bong with the dry hops you want to add. TC x PCO cap on to the top. Then thread the smaller black cap on top but leave it loose. Set your CO2 regulator to 1-2psi and connect it to the red ball lock post. Let the top threaded cap leak CO2 for about 60 seconds, then close the cap hand tight. If your fermenter is currently under pressure, adjust your CO2 regulator to approximately match the pressure in the fermenter. Then open the butterfly valve to drop the hops into the fermenter. Close the valve.
