Description

This assembly is made of a mandrel bent length of 1/2" OD, 304 Stainless Steel tubing (either just an open tube to clamp a hose onto or you can select any kind of welded fitting in the dropdown). We also include a short piece of silicone tubing to hang the included diffusor/dispersion tip on the output. The intended purpose of the dispersion tip is to spread out the force of the returning wort so it does not bore down through the top of the grain bed. The stock recirculation system that Anvil sells relies on a perforated disc that sits on top of the mash, but it is not only ineffective in dispersing the liquid due to not remaining perfectly level but it also sinks/bores down into the mash over the course of your brew day. Do NOT think you need that plate.

The unit does have some height adjustability built in since you can feed more or less of the stainless tubing into the hole in the Anvil lid. If you often brew smaller ABV beers and your mash sits significantly lower, you can drop the dispersion tip lower by purchasing one foot of 3/8" ID silicone tubing to extend it downward for those batches. We HIGHLY recommend trying your best to orient the diffusor device at the surface of the mash, if not a 1/4 inch below the surface. You are not trying to SPRAY your mash liquor through the air. The recirculation rate should be between 1 and 1.5 quarts per minute max during the mash. If you want to use this assembly for cleaning in place after brew day, the diffusor tip will spray your cleaning solution in all directions to hit the sides of the kettle if you get the flow rate up high enough.

The drop down menu near the "add to cart" button allows you to select which kind of QD male you want on the input. The most common is camlock which is what we show in the picture, then BLQD but we also have people ask for TC flanges as well. Whatever QD style you use, just match it up. Note the price difference for the selected fitting type. The base price listed does NOT include a welded fitting.

Note that this assembly does NOT require any modifications to your Foundry lid. It simply slips into the 1/2" diameter hole.

5 of 5 Great options if using cam locks April 24, 2023

I wanted to use a pump that had cam locks installed on it with my Foundary.  This helped in making it easier.  I highly recommend it.

5 of 5 Clever design and much cheaper than the recirc kit February 16, 2022

I already had a pump when I bought my Anvil Foundry, so I didn’t opt for the $100 mash recirc kit. They don’t sell the diffuser plate a la carte so I had to find another solution. This piece did the trick perfectly. It fits nicely on the system and has a piece on the end that makes the wort spray diffusely so that you don’t get channels through the grains.  Happy with my purchase!

Works great, comes with tubing and aerator, everything you need. I'm enjoying not having to mess with the metal colander attachment. Much better for my mesh bag both with and without the malt pipe.

5 of 5 Anvil Foundry recirculation a update November 8, 2021
Reviewer: Henry F Bowell from Endicott, NY United States
Recirculation arm is bigger than the original and I liked that as the original would have been too close to operate with the camlock easily.
