5 of 5 Basically saved me $500 April 20, 2024
Reviewer: Chris from Sunnyvale, CA United States
I have a Digiboil kettle and a bucket heater that together should give me about 2500 watts of boiling power. They just weren't getting the job done anymore and I was looking at hiring at electrician to put it a 240v circuit and buying a new spike kettle and elements, etc. Then I saw that I could get a Hot Rod @ 2200 watts on my dedicated 20 amp circuit in the garage. SOLD! My first brew using the Hot Rod cut my time to boil by at least 50% and the boil off was exactly as predicted. This is the best purchase I've made since I switched to a RIMS system from brewhardware a few years ago.

5 of 5 A MUST HAVE FOR GRAINFATHER! October 13, 2022
Reviewer: Daniel from Maryland
I've never been able to get a rolling boil with my G30, even when at 6800 ft!  This item for me to boil after mash in 25 minutes and finally helped me achieve a decent boil off rate!  Wish 8 bought this years ago!

5 of 5 I can finally boil on the stove! March 29, 2021
Reviewer: Craig Peacock from Lawrenceville , NJ United States
I bought the 1650 watt and it has a lot of power.  With the burner on high it is as fast as propane and once boil is reached I only need a small flame so I push the kettle back under the extraction fan which keeps steam to a minimum in my kitchen.
Highly recommended and so glad I could buy this already made.

5 of 5 Hot Rod March 17, 2021
Reviewer: Robert Gross from Edgewater, MD United States
The Hot Rod arrived minutes before I started heating the mash and sparge water on my kitchen stove top.  Up to temp, 177 F for the grain bill in a short time.  Sweet!  Same for the second batch.  Didn't need to boil outside in the cold.  Next year will purchase the 240 volt version.

5 of 5 Great product worth every penny December 7, 2020
Reviewer: Mark3885 from WNY
I converted to electric brewing after using propane burners for 4 years . The hotrod is a simple and convenient way to change over to electric. No drilling or welding to my existing pots , just hang the Hotrod over the side and plug into a proper outlet. The 2200 watt element raised 50F water to 175F in 85 min for my strike water.  I have a few ideas to speed this process up , so improvements on the horizon . Having the proper electric outlet and correct wire for your element size is of utmost importance. A GFCI breaker is common sense and needed to avoid injury.

5 of 5 HotRod - working great November 6, 2020
Reviewer: Mark Wagner from DANVERS, MA United States
Arrived with no issues, clear instructions. I brew 10 gallons at a time using propane burner. Was able to keep burner heat low and still shorten time to boil after draining mash. Once boil reached, burner is on low. Great product and bridge to electric brewing!

5 of 5 Great Product with an Induction Cooktop August 4, 2020
Reviewer: Brandon
I was having trouble getting a good boil with about 4 gallons of wort with my 1800w induction cooktop so I bought the 1650w heat stick as an addition. Holy cow did it step things up. When the hot rod is combined with my cooktop, I can now get 7 gallons of water to strike temp in 18 minutes and to a full boil in 38-40 minutes (starting from 25C with lid on). I can now get 5 gallons of wort after a mash to an aggressive rolling boil in about 25 minutes compared to about 55 when I was using just my cooktop (and that was barely a boil). Overall a great addition, I would definitely recommend if you're looking to speed up heat times and increase your boil.

5 of 5 Works great May 24, 2020

Used the 1500 watt to supplement my induction cook top. Good purchase. It reduces my time and I am able to maintain the boil when I add my immersion chiller.
