I like this very much. I do find however that the advertised 6 sec. to read is a little under. When you first turn it on it it reads the ambient temp of the area it is in. I will try to place it in the medium to be read first to see if this makes a difference. I still am very satisfied with the product and would recommend it highly.

5 of 5 Would not brew without it! September 4, 2015

I purchased my first one of these babies about 3 years ago from BrewHardware and it was my loyal brewing companion for over 100 batches! You simply will not beat it for the price and I have observed consistent accuracy from day 1. You could spend close to $100 on a thermopen if you need instant readings but I have no problem waiting the 3 SECONDS on the DTQ450X. I love the ease of calibration and water resistance (dropped it in a boiling batch of beer once) and the stainless construction makes it easy to sanitize. I just ordered a second one. Thanks BrewHardware, great product, great price, and great service!

The movers broke my thermometers in my brew pots that I had had for about a year.  I got the same ones and they work just as good.  Just be sure to calibrate them per the instructions for consistency

5 of 5 Great Accuracy and Fast May 5, 2015
Reviewer: Jeremy Blynt from Abington, PA United States
Big improvement over the floating thermometer I've been using. Was able to get my strike water to the exact temp and in turn mash was dead on. I love this thing. At this price, think I will buy a 2nd to use around the kitchen.

4 of 5 CDN Digital Thermometer January 6, 2015

I'm using this to monitor the temperature of my plate chiller output. This is necessary to dial in the correct temperature while tuning the ball valve setting on the pump before the plate chiller. After 1 use it seems to do a good job and settles within a few seconds. Originally I had planned to use my thermoworks thermometer but the diameter of the probe wasn't large enough for the Thermo Probe Compression Fitting 1/2" MNPT x 1/4 probe.

The top facing display should be useful for measuring liquid/mash temperatures.

4 of 5 Very Accurate but needs good lighting December 9, 2014

This is a very handy and accurate thermometer.  I like the "Hold" feature and the fact that it doesn't automatically shut off after a short time.  I do find it difficult to read in less than bright light.  This can be overcome to some extent by use of the "Hold" feature but makes its use when semi-permanently mounted to my mash tun difficult.  I need to keep a flashlight on hand to read it.
