The bad news is we just welded up new burners and heat shields, and we are no longer using gas. The HotRod can be a beast depending the element you choose. Mine out performs my gas burners at a fraction of the cost, with zero noise and gas to vent. It cost about $1.74 to brew 10 gallons What set's this apart is how simple it is to use. I would prefer to use a HotRod rather than a built in heat coil, sitting on the kettle bottom until it is disconnected and the hole closed. We have brewed with a HotRod a lot, and it's so simple to drop it on the side, and then get it out of the way whenever you wish with just a lift and hang motion. Moving these around is just too easy, and then they are out of your way. You will need to throttle this down a little with the 5500 in a 10 gallon boil. If you have a really big kettle, just add another. Versatile connection options, leading edge design, and the best on the market.
