This is a tubing assembly we've made up for local customers and friends over the years and finally decided to put it up as a standard semi-custom product. Although many people use garden hoses marketed as "RV" or potable water hoses, that designation simply means the water coming out is safe for human consumption. They don't mention that any water that sits in the hose will taste and smell like rubber. This jacketed silicone tubing is inert and will not impart flavors so it can be used to fill your brewing vessels. Bobby also uses it as the supply and exit hoses for his immersion chiller.

We start with the 1/2" ID high temperature silicone tubing that is extremely popular for hot side brewing applications and wrap it with a heavy duty polyester woven jacket which adds strength and some abrasion resistance as well. Normally this tubing would start to balloon outward at about 15 psi but the addition of this mesh makes it capable of handling at least 60psi (we have not tested it any higher than that so you would do so at your own risk).

This particular version uses the BLQD-Cplus (5/8" hose barb) QDs on both ends. The fittings are crimped on with oetiker clamps and the ends are finally finished with heavy duty heat shrink tubing to keep the jacket from fraying and looking tidy.

The minimum length for this assembly is 3 feet. Select longer lengths in the drop down menu.


The polyester mesh jacket has a temperature maximum sustained temperature of 300F so do not let it get too close to an open flame.




Warning: Do NOT leave silicone tubing soaking in Star San sanitizer for more than a few hours at a time. Long term soaking, such as several days to a week, can cause silicone to get brittle.
