This American Amber recipe is a very approachable balanced beer with a malty backbone and just enough hop assertiveness to avoid cloying sweetness.
10 pounds of grain, mostly Pale Malt combined with Cascade and Centennial Hops makes for an inexpensive and quaffable drinker. This beer will do well with either a direct pitch of Omega Labs West Coast I, White Labs WLP-001 or a pack of dry US-05 (select it as an add on in the accessory list). If you plan to bottle condition, be sure you have 4-5 ounces of priming sugar. You can purchase that as an accessory as well.
For emphasis: This kit does not include yeast, it must be selected from the accessories list on the right.

Assuming 75% efficiency into the boil kettle:

Other acceptable modifications to this recipe:
  • Add one extra pound of Pale base malt to boost ABV by .5%
  • Add one extra ounce of Cascade if you want to dry hop in the fermenter to boost hop aroma.

Brewed this a year ago and dry-hopped with my homegrown hops... ended up with an excellent hoppy amber/lite IPA. Doing it all over again!

Bobby’s Amber Ale is my beer of choice that I include in every brew day. Always the first choice of guests, many of whom are wary of home brews, until trying this brew. Then they have seconds. Tastes like beer!

The all grain kits I have purchased from BrewHardware.com have always yielded well balanced beers.  The kits are complete with all ingredients and an easy to follow recipe.
This American Amber Ale is easily reproduced and is a favorite in our family.

Added the extra pound of pale malts, used WYEAST 1056 AMERICAN ALE as suggested.

Very happy with the results!

Recommend doing secondary fermentation, I did not, and my bottles have a lot of sediment.

Overall, a very satisfying beer for any time of year.
