Description

If you're new to brewing you'll soon learn that healthy yeast makes better beer. The best place to start with making healthy yeast is to build up their numbers. This compact and economical stir plate theoretically works with Erlenmeyer flasks up to 5000mL, but flasks larger than 2000ml will hang over the sides in a precarious way. If you're usually making starters larger than 2000ml, such as in our 3000ml, 5000ml or even 3 gallon carboys, we have a larger stirplate available. Depending on the volume of your yeast starter, you can use the adjustment knob to dial in the speed of the stir bar. We recommend using just enough power to keep yeast in suspension, a full vortex isn't really necessary.

Stir bar included.

Required but not included:
Vessel to hold your yeast starter such as our 2 liter Erlenmeyer Flask.
Foam stopper
Dry Malt Extract
Liquid Yeast Pack

If you're frequently pushing any given flask size near capacity, a couple drops of Fermcap-S will keep foam from volcano eruption.

Great product.  It worked well several times on small 1500 ml starter.  Thought I would go for the 2500ML.  Yeah not quite strong enough for that.  If you are thinking of doing a double or stronger then this is not the right stir plate.  I would jump up.  For regular 100-1500 starters this one is great.
