Another distinctly English beer. Out in the wild, most people can find a New Castle Nut Brown in any bottle shop. This recipe is just a touch more flavorful and dark. Expect rich biscuity malt with caramel, toffee, butterscotch, and peanut undertones. Earthy/tangerine hops provide a balance for drinkability and a light stonefruit ester aroma.


This is Bobby's recipe that has competed very well. In seven different BJCP competitions, it took 3rd place three times with a lowest score of 33 and 1st place twice with a high score of 40.

Bottom line, this is highly drinkable beer with a moderate malt and hop flavor along with the fruity ester character that comes from English yeast fermented at "room temp".


This kit includes primarily imported British malts and hops. We list all the acceptable yeast options as accessories on the right. One pack of OMEGA, Whitelabs, or dry varieties will be fine.

For emphasis: This kit does not include yeast, priming sugar or bottle caps, they must be selected from the accessories list on the right.
