This grommet is sized for an 11/16" hole (or slightly smaller depending on how tight you want the 3/8" cane gripped). It will accommodate materials from 1/16 to 1/8" thick. In a fully relaxed state the interior hole is 3/8" which is what a smaller/standard racking cane measures. You CAN force a standard airlock into this hole though it will be very snug and may not fully insert. If this hole needs to be used for gas release, it would be better to shove a small scrap of 3/8" stainless or plastic tubing in, then attach a 5/16" or 3/8" ID hose onto that and drape it down into a container of starsan.

Good product, 11/16" hole required	February 20, 2020

This product works exactly as advertised, but I ended up using a step bit to drill out my fermenter lid to 11/16". A 7/16" hole is too small to fit the whole piece through.
