You don't have to settle for the barbed elbow connector that comes with all the domed false bottoms out there. If you bought a domed false bottom from somewhere and found out that the inside diameter of the barb is a pathetic 1/4", this is your solution. Take a look at the comparison picture. You'll want to use a short piece of 1/2" ID silicone tubing to make the connection from this fitting over to your bulkhead fitting and that bulkhead needs at least a 1/2" barb.

This fitting fits into domed false bottoms with a 7/8" center hole.

Check your depth	January 15, 2019

Lay a straight edge across the bottom of false bottom and confirm you have an air gap between pickup and straight edge.
I purchased to replace the tiny little stainless barb that comes with typical false bottom conversion. I replaced the original false bottom barb and filled mash tun with water to check that the bulkhead (also purchased the True bulkhead barb) for leaks. All good! I opened the valve to drain and only a trickle of water! After some head scratching I determined that the pickup was basically flat against the bottom of cooler. I removed the washer to create a 1/8 inch gap and flow was restored!

You Need This In Your Mash Tun	July 18, 2016

I had a false bottom from another retailer in my 10 gallon beverage cooler mash tun for many years that had the 1/4" elbow fitting on it and that wasn't an issue for me when I was lautering via gravity, but, when I put that false bottom into a kettle to do direct-fired recirculating mashing, the restriction of that elbow (as well as the bulkhead/ball valve combo) was very apparent and became a problem. I swapped the elbow on the false bottom out for this one and put a true weldless bulkhead with large barb on the pot and have zero issues recirculating and lautering with a pump. I highly recommend this little piece of the flow puzzle. Cheers!

Went from a 1/4" ID to this 5/8" ID hose connection. Mash out went quicker without getting a stuck sparge. Another quality product.
