Description

Built upon our industry leading True Bulkhead design, we've crafted a combo product that includes an integrated 2pc style full flow ball valve that includes a press-fit interior diputube. The entire assembly is 304 Stainless Steel for ultimate durability. Other than drilling the 13/16" hole in your kettle, this single product gets you a weldless bulkhead, valve, and diptube. If you choose not to use the diputube, you'll still have some male threads exposed on the interior to attach other fitting types.

Is it a good value? Absolutely! A true bulkhead with integrated diptube would cost $19 and a standard 2pbv is $13. We'd argue that this is also a cleaner assemblyavoiding two threaded connections.

Our line of "True Bulkheads" were completely redesigned from scratch. The entire homebrew industry is flooded with makeshift bulkhead designs that are only a small step up from the DIY parts you'd find at a hardware store. While we were confident in the performance of our previous bulkheads made from off the shelf parts, the new True Bulkheads solve several shortcomings and look sharp in the process.

All varieties of True Bulkheads:
  1. Use a huge hex size with a machined O-Ring containment groove (gland). When used with an oring, you can tighten the bulkhead with gorilla strength for stability and the gasket will not budge or get damaged.
  2. Accommodate vessel wall thicknesses up to 3/8" or 8mm thick.
The theme here is that these bulkheads are in a different league and we think the pricing is unbelievably reasonable for what you get.

NOTE: If you are installing this into an existing hole that is larger than 13/16", such as 7/8" or more, please select the option for the 7/8" hole in the option dropdown.

THIS BULKHEAD IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR COOLERS because the seal is made on the outside of the vessel.

Hole Side Options: If your hole is closer to 13/16" the standard oring seals great. If your hole is a bit over-sized, right around 7/8", we can include an additional thin oring that will keep the fitting centered in the hole while you tighten it up. If you have no way of accurately measuring your hole, the threads of a 1/2" male NPT fitting will be snug in a 13/16" hole and wiggle side to side a bit in a 7/8" hole. When in doubt, select 7/8". You can remove the extra oring and try it but you'll have it in case you need it.

Install Notes:
  • Drill a clean 13/16" diameter hole in your pot taking care to avoid any wall contours that may prevent the interior hex from sitting flat on the inside wall of the vessel. It is also important to remove any sharp edges or "burrs" from the outside edge of the hole, otherwise the oring can get torn. Insert the threaded portion of the unit through the hole from the outside of your pot or keg with only the oring in place. On the inside, install the locknut and snug everything up with a pair of wrenches.
  • The press fit diptube simply presses into the bore on the inside of the pot. You MUST lubricate the two captured Orings with keg lube or Vaseline prior to insertion otherwise you may damage them. Push in with a little left and right alternating twisting motion.
Accessories?
The exit of the valve is female 1/2" NPT threads so you'll need a hose barb or some variety of disconnect which are found on the right in accessories.

Reviewer: Jackie from Richmond, CA United States
This is a really great weldless bulkhead and Bobby helped me figure out just the right way to install it. Kettle leaking gone! And I can use my new brew pot (happy dance).
It's also really high quality, well-machined & thoughtfully designed.
You guys rock!

5 of 5 Easy install February 4, 2023

Got this to circulate wort under my false bottom for BIAB. Five minutes with a stepped drill bit and touch up of burrs with a file and done! A little keg lube on the tube and the valve and tube  slid together perfectly.  The instructions are good, just follow them and you’ll be very happy.

5 of 5 Weldless bulkhead December 28, 2021

I bought this to add to a 15gal s/s fermentation tank. Punched out a 13/16 hole, de-burred and dropped this valve right in there were no problems. Fitting this valve with the pressfit dip tube will replace using a siphon for clean transfer to kegs.
As always, Brewhardware comes up with intelligent design for brewery products.

5 of 5 Works Great July 26, 2020
Reviewer: JSbrew from Kuna, ID United States
Overall the bulkhead works great. Seems like good quality. I like the shorter design and it seems a bit more rigid then other bulkheads.  Only issue, and very minor, is I had 7/8 inch hole. I used the extra smaller o-ring but it tore. I see no need for it and have had no leaks so far. My only other suggestion is that the o-ring boss machined into the nut and bulkhead be closer to the diameter of the o-ring. The bosses really don't work as well as they can.

5 of 5 Nice piece January 23, 2020

Drilled the hole, inserted the bulkhead, tightened the nuts, no leaks!

This worked exactly as I hoped. I'd read so many horror stories online of dripping keggles. This worked perfectly.
Thanks!
